Norms in MAS: Definitions and Related Concepts
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this chapter we provide an introductory presentation of normative multi-agent systems (nMAS). The key idea of the chapter is that any definition of nMAS should preliminarily clarify meaning, scope, and function of the concept of norm. On account of this idea, we focus on three definitions and some related requirements for nMAS. For each of such definitions we propose some guidelines for developing nMAS. Second, we suggest how to relate the concept of nMAS to different conceptions of norms and how norms can be used within the systems. Finally, we identify some specific issues that open research questions or that exhibit interesting overlaps with other disciplines. 1998 ACM Subject Classification I.2.11 Distributed Artificial Intelligence

متن کاملComputational Institutions for Modelling Norm-Regulated MAS: An Approach Based on Coordination Artifacts
As agent autonomy emphasises the need of norms for governing agent interactions, increasing attention is being devoted to (electronic) institutions for modelling organisations governed by norms. Moving from the concepts of role (with its normative consequences, i.e. obligations, permissions and prohibitions), norms (both regulative and constitutive), and normative agents, we first introduce the...
متن کاملMSMAS: Modelling Self-managing Multi Agent Systems
Although Multi Agent Systems (MAS) have attracted a great deal of attention in the field of software engineering, with their promise of capturing complex systems, they remain far away from commercial popularity mainly due to the accessibility of MAS methodologies for commercial developers. In this paper we present a practical method for developing self-managing MAS that we believe enables not o...
